Flag of Derry
Recommended by Steven Weill
There is a LOT going on here. We've got the Celtic harp, a pensive skeleton, a red cross, a sword, a castle and a half flag's worth of pitch black void.
There are some rumors about the flag — that the castle belongs to native Irish chieftains around 14th Century or that the skeleton is a Norman knight who starved to death in the aforementioned castle's dungeons.
True or not this is a singular maximalist gem.

Can’t believe I’ve never noticed this before on family trips around Ulster. It’s trippy!

This is so metal

Actually mind blowing that a London area metal band hasn’t riffed on this for their visual identity

Amazing!

the quadrants and the colors make this spatially so strange, esp the many possible questions/relationships between harp and skeleton. it feels like a tarot card in that way. by far the most compelling flag I’ve seen, ty for sharing
@weill
My absolute pleasure. It is a bizarre one that defies so many conventions, which feels particularly odd considering the country at hand.
