Hadley Lee Lightcap by Sam Sweet

Deeply researched and sensitively wrought… one of the best books about musicians and/or Southern California that I’ve ever read. Honestly it’s one of my favorite things I’ve read in years.

This “non-fiction novel” brings you into the practice rooms and lets you ride shotgun alongside the rise and fall of criminally underrated moody 90s L.A. band Acetone (the book’s title is made up of the bandmates’ surnames).

When I went to see them play some recent reunion gigs, I felt emotionally invested, because I had parasocially witnessed the best and worst moments of these guys’ lives.

Their music and this book are so special.
