A meticulous and considered disentangling of Shakespeare the man from the works attributed to him. Frankly, thrilling. I love how Winkler leaves us with questions when there isn’t suitable evidence to settle the authorship debate. Not crackpot, just uninterested in the blind worship of canonical male figures. Citations and lines of inquiry were very sexy. 10/10
