OK not sexy at all but zerosum is by far the best budgeting app I’ve found. I was a YNAB subscriber for 4+ years and this is the first app that I’ve found that does a better job. YNAB is getting bad - more expensive, less personal, weird “we’re getting ready to sell this company” vibes. This software is made by one person (who is also a frequent poster in the software’s subreddit), so you can also feel good supporting an independent developer.
Anyway! Budgeting changed my life (srsly), and if you’re a current or former YNAB user OR a new budgeter you should check this out.

used ynab on/off for years now and the concept of budgeting the way it helped me understand it was indeed life changing. but agreed that the software is clunky and the company seems less connected to its user base than in the past. thanks for recommending this!
