Learning to do my make-up via Youtube tutorials.

I've always had the idea that because my mom didn't teach me to do makeup, that I have to hold a grudge against her for my own stunted beauty knowledge, but we're in an era of so much DIY learning that you have to be stubborn not to see it. Since May I've been teaching myself to do my make-up via Youtube tutorials, and I've loved every second of it. I love starting my day by listening to a podcast or music and just playing with the products I have. It feels like ME time, and makes me so happy. I love seeing my progression, and trying new techniques. It's also changed my relationship to beauty - I used to quietly judge people that were into doing their makeup, but now it's become something to bond with other women over, and learn one another's secrets. I love that.
