Jolene by The White Stripes

Okay I know this isn't classic Dolly, but this cover KILLS. Something about the cascade when Jack White sings, "I'm begging of you, please don't take my man" gets at something much darker in the song that was lurking there the whole time, perhaps this desperation that the OG Dolly version has a sprinkle of, but the cover blows the top off. Covers, sometimes, are a way of realizing the genius of the original composer. This is a good example.
