I cried in a lot of Ubers. A lot. And I started realizing that the only moments when I cried was in the in between moments, between work and numbing, when I actually felt something. Avoiding feelings certainly feels better than grieving. And that’s lovely as long as you can delay the inevitable. Eventually I found that taking a month or two of sobriety helped me process and heal.
Fair warning: this may result in you getting obliterated and needing a friend who will accept the reality that nothing is okay and you are no longer able to take care of yourself for 24 hours
