“Before the Altadena fire we had a flock of chickens and ducks (12 total- they survived don’t worry) and I cannot tell you how good for my mental health it was to just hug a chicken sometimes. Or feed them kitchen scraps and watch them do their ridiculous thing in the garden. We hand raised them and one (Fritz) thought she was a person and loved to perch on my shoulder while I drank coffee or weede”
