the henry miller library (Big Sur, CA)
this bookstore is so incredibly magical. it's got a big, sprawling green around it, where they sometimes do outdoor events - i went once for a live podcast recording of the show Snap Judgment, and laid in the grass listening while the sun set - and also a really beautiful collection of books for purchase. teaching a class or doing an event here would really be a dream come true

“One of my favorite places in Big Sur. Bonus if your trip lines up with a show or event but magical just for a pitstop and book shop”

“Stop in and buy a book (yes Henry Miller, but they have a strong selection beyond his work,) say hello to Magnus who runs the place, have a seat on the deck and enjoy the magic of the woods. Better yet, plan your Big Sur trip around one of their intimate concerts on the lawn (I saw Patti Smith here!)”
