Apple Pie with Custard (the Practical Magic 2 dessert)

There's a scene in Practical Magic 2 where Ian pours warm custard over apple pie for Sally, and it stuck with me more than it probably should have. Not ice cream, not whipped cream, just custard poured slow right at the table. So I went looking for the real version of that, and found this one from BBC Food. It's a proper double crust pie with three kinds of apples, paired with a stovetop custard made from milk, cream, and vanilla, poured over the slice while it's still warm. Slower than a normal pie night, but worth it if you want that exact scene on your plate.
