Different Stars by Trespassers William (2002)
Recommended by Tim Sondrup
A dreamy, hushed record that sounds like Mazzy Star’s quieter cousin. Anna-Lynne Williams’ whisper-close vocals float over slow-burning shoegaze guitars, aching and intimate rather than dramatic. Best late night, headphones on.

Laguna Hills represent! Anna-Lynne and I played together when we were little girls.

No way, that’s so fun! Small world. Trespassers William has been on repeat for me for a while now, Anna-Lynne’s voice is incredible. Did you know she’d end up making music like this back then?

I did not! (We were properly little, like…four? Five?) By high school, certainly.
