This American Life S1E2: My Way

Yes, the This American Life tv show. I recently bought it to see if it was as good as I remember — it does hold up. Ahead of it’s time! So sad there isn’t more. It’s so wacky and fun.
All of the episodes are great, but I’m choosing this one for a fun reason. I transferred to a new college my junior year, and swore I recognized a kid in a natural history class but couldn’t figure out how. He was from Massachusetts, I was from Oregon… I wracked my brain for weeks until I miraculously recognized him as Joe No Love from this episode. Later, I encouraged his now-wife to date him, and I now take much too much credit for their relationship.

Amazing! We saw Ira Glass live in DC recently. He talked extensively about the challenges of bringing a radio show to TV. He then did a where are they now for Joe No Love and he mentioned finding love (assuming now wife) in the interview! It was such a cute moment to examine the certainly of world views we can establish as kids and what happens to them when you actually live life. Well done on the introduction of the two love birds!
