Don't try to store all your jewelry in plain sight. Instead, keep most of your collection in deeper storage, and rotate out a "capsule wardrobe" of pieces you're excited about and want to wear soon. I rotate mine every two months or so, or else when I'm bored of what I have on display.
The linked item is what I use for my active pieces. I use the taller two posts for necklaces and bracelets. Each arm can easily store 3-5 pieces without looking cluttered, so 12-20 pieces total. Earrings go on the lowest post, with five pairs on each side. Rings go in the little dish in the center.
I find that this system helps me wear a lot more of what I own, since the space constraints make me be more honest with myself about what I'm interested in wearing in the near future. more
