In Defense of the Poor Image by Hito Steyerl

Sometimes I feel silly in academia because apparently this essay is a household favorite. I was introduced to it last year by my roommate while writing my application for graduate school. The circuit in which Steyerl discusses in 2009 continues to mutate to means unimaginable in 2026. It’s funny how history works like that.
