“Lake Charles” by Lucinda Williams

We went to her concert last week, and she introduced this song saying it was about a man she knew who died a long, long time ago. The juxtaposition of her bittersweet, simple memories of him with her feelings around his death really stuck with me for some reason. Nostalgic, sad, hopeful, tender. One of the best songwriters we’ve got.
