the "day of" play date

I rec the "day of" play date. I cannot with planning a get-together for a couple of kids 3 weeks in advance like a dentist appointment. I just... text whoever my kid wants to play with and say, wanna come over? Sometimes they're busy, sometimes they're not, but it's easy to start reciprocating with this arrangement (even better - we have the kids call their friends on the tin can phone). And if someone's busy, call someone else! It is, in my opinion, better living this way. Lower the stakes!
