Especially Coyote vs ACME which is in theaters now! But just putting on a random ep of the original Tunes gets me cackling.

Stand Up Solutions - Conner O’Malley

Conner O’Malley is not for everyone, but I personally find him to be hilarious. I think this special is a bit more coherent than some of his other content, but still captures his weirdness and chaos.

The New One (Mike Birbiglia)
•••
This is my favorite comedy special! Mike unpacks all the reasons he was never going to have a kid and also his experience of having a kid. I love how Mike mixes storytelling/vulnerability with very funny jokes. This is probably the only special I would weep from laughing at on my 6th viewing.

Rewatching this has brought me so much joy. Took me a while to get into it but I'm also slow burn that takes time to warm up to, so I can appreciate this quality. Moira Rose is quite possibly one of the most hysterical characters on television. I am appalled that my baby girl has turned into a selfish, duplicitous whore! RIP Catherine O'Hara - you will always be famous!!! PS - the trailers don't do this show justice. just watch it, be patient and i promise you'll laugh

Sentimental in the City
•••
One episode covers each season of Sex and the City in this hilarious deep dive into the iconic series, featuring two besties nerding out about pop culture. I’m more obsessed with this pod than the show itself. "I don’t want any woman out there to think you have to place yourself under a fountain of piss to find true love. That’s not what we’re saying. All we’re saying is that she does throw a good man away over a little bit of urine." Absolutely classic commentary on the groundbreaking (and often, now heavily criticised) series.

All I Ever Wanted Was To Be Hot by Lucinda Price
•••
Internet icon and CEO of silly’s memoir, All I Ever Wanted Was To Be Hot, offers a vulnerable and relatable exploration of our complex relationship with body image, fatphobia, and diet culture, all while weaving in nostalgic reflections of growing up in the 2000s. Lucinda’s candid storytelling exposes the insecurities we all grapple with, highlighting the pressures to conform and the absurdity of striving to meet unrealistic beauty standards. She ruminates on everything from early attempts to emulate Victoria’s Secret models to Ozempic's chokehold on current beauty ideals. Balancing vulnerability with humour takes a special kind of talent, but Froomes does it effortlessly. (excerpt from my substack)

If it's a severed head, I'm going to be very upset
•••
Stacy: Happy anniversary, Wayne. Wayne Campbell: Stacy, we broke up two months ago. Stacy: Well that doesn't mean we can't still go out. Wayne Campbell: Well it does, actually. That's what breaking up is. Stacy: Well, are you going to go to the Gasworks tonight? Wayne Campbell: No. Stacy: Don't you want to open your present? Wayne Campbell: If it's a severed head, I'm going to be very upset. Stacy: Open it. Wayne Campbell: Ok. What is it? Stacy: It's a gun rack. Wayne Campbell: A gun rack... a gun rack. I don't even own a gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack. What am I gonna do with a gun rack? Stacy: You don't like it? Fine. You know Wayne, if you're not careful, you're going to lose me. Wayne Campbell: I lost you two months ago. Are you mental? We broke up. Get the net!

Quiz Lady (2023)

LOVED THIS. A heartwarming and cute movie, perfect for when you're in the mood for a silly laugh and a happy ending. Awkwafina is endearing in an autistic-coded gameshow-obsessed role, while Sandrah Oh is hilariously brilliant as her unhinged, chaotic sister. It was refreshing seeing Will Ferrell in a more understated role that doesn't over-dominate the scene as he can in other films.

Afroman - Happily Divorced
•••
From the artistic craftsmanship behind the 2001 masterpiece "Because I Got High" comes his bold and brave record, "Divorce-C". Featuring stunningly poetic track names such as "Anti-Marriage Megamix", "Divorce Ditty" and the thought-provoking "Fucc You Bitch, Goodbye", the entire album is an emotionally vulnerable, deeply reflective piece of songwriting genius. I'm being so unserious right now, obviously. I still think this might be one of the silliest, funniest things to come out of 2020.

This is Poly (2026)
•••
The one-liners are hysterical. The eyebrows are unforgettable. The vibes are DIABOLICAL. Potentially the best & worst show I've ever seen. The producers knew EXACTLY what they were doing when casting this. Sure, it may feed into some of the more problematic stereotypes & perceptions of polyamory (it's reality TV after all), while also depicting some of the uniquely unconventional family dynamics, AND somehow also touching on some surprisingly sweet & tender moments?!? Still trying to unpack how I feel because it is A LOT to process, but if you're after something camp, trashy & very entertaining, then this is a verrrry strong contender.

"People are entitled to their sexual proclivities. Let there be a thousand blossoms bloom, as far as I am concerned. But I ain't spending any time on it because in the meantime, every three months, a person is torn to pieces by a crocodile in North Queensland."

I simply cannot stop wheeze-laughing whenever I hear this 2017 clip of walking contradiction and modern day Shakespeare, the divisive Australian politician, Bob Katter, when explaining why he didn't really care about the same-sex marriage debate.

The Invite (2026)
•••
OH MY GODDDD I loved this movie. As my friend Kitty said, it was very much giving "are the hets okay?" and I really don't think they are, but damn, that makes for great cinema. As a middle-aged woman, I LOVE seeing my fellow middle-aged women represented in funny and complex character studies. Directed by and starring Olivia Wilde (one of my many queer awakenings thanks to her portrayal of the bisexual Alex in The O.C.) as a highly strung, and dare I say - Virgo-adjacent icon. Seth Rogen is in peak acting form as her hilariously honest hater husband. Their neighbours are played by Penelope Cruz (who I discovered is 52 years old, what a WOMAN) and is the hottest person alive with impeccable comic timing, and Edward Norton is hysterical as her partner in a refreshing departure from his otherwise very serious parts. It's also got a trailer that succeeds at giving you a taste of what to expect without giving away the entire plot. 5 stars. OBSESSED.
