Nuclear War by Annie Jacobsen

If you aren’t comfortable living with doom and/or didn’t consciously live through the Cold War (you know, the OTHER, earlier one with the USSR), don’t do this to yourself. If you’re still interested, you’re in for a treat. If you consume as an audiobook, the author has an incredible Philly accent that is Terry Gross-adjacent in the best way. This gave me a new level of appreciation for how terrifying it is that there are so many unserious maniacs in charge of nuclear states. Enjoy!
