Folkways Records released this recording in 1960 — absolutely unnerving and electrifying, this is an annual listen for me. I wonder if you, too, will feel it down to your very bones! People just don’t sound like this anymore! (Although, as I’m writing this, I’m of course thinking of Donna Tartt’s narration of both True Grit and The Secret History…)
