I first watched Sally Potter’s Orlando (1992) in a college film class, and this scene has lived rent-free in my head ever since. Tilda Swinton running through a hedge maze, emerging into an entirely different century. The sweeping camera movement, the music, the sheer visual grandeur. A few minutes of cinema that somehow capture the passage of time, the fluidity of identity, and the exhilaration of transformation without a word of explanation. I revisit it constantly.
