I find that in many realms - architecture, furniture, and art - the vernacular interpretation speaks to me more than the textbook refined piece.
Frances Palmer's work is a perfect example - elegant urns, fluted vases, beaded platters - the original forms are legible but interpreted through a rustic hand.
The lines wobble just a bit, the curly handles have their individual quirks, the scalloped edges celebrate the artist's perfectly imperfect hand.
