Dampen your face before moisturizing

I feel like I love most of my skincare routine and have refined it over the years. However, my skin is DRYYY (yes, I consume copious amounts of water) and I have yet to find a product that I love that REALLY moisturizes my face. Particularly a night cream. Help me, Rec League, you are my last hope!
