Grease Megamix
•••
I have to tread lightly here, because I know this movie is very dear to a lot of people, but you asked. The Grease Megamix absolutely tops my “do not play” list! and it’s a long one!! I’ll go to the washroom, make a trip to the bar, finish my cake, do… pretty much anything but dance to this hokey never-ending medley.

VintageSoft Wedge Crew Sweatshirt
•••
This is my favourite sweatshirt, and I (because, I’m apparently in my Old-Lady-Era) have it in 3 colours. It’s soft, roomy, a little boxy, slight cropped - but not belly bearing, and uber comfy-cozy. It washes well and has been successfully spot treated for grease stains without any fading. Always on sale, don’t pay full price, and (per the reviews) avoid the pink one.

Bistro Huddy - Bartender Compilation
•••
Drew Talbert worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years. Now, for the masses, filtered through his stellar acting/improv capabilities, he shares those experiences on YouTube. If you’ve never seen his videos, I’m linking to my favourite compilation so you can dip a toe. He plays every. single. character. WITH conviction, and nails each one!

What No One Tells You About Your Breakup (Caroline Winkler)
•••
What helped me was a boat-load of drug store novels, a Friends dvd on at all (all!!) times, and rum. I sure wish I has this advice instead… Not long ago, @Annie Loves rec-ed one of Caroline’s videos for a small balcony, which lead me to this Caroline video. It’s insightful and thoughtful. Level-headed, practical advice delivered with a sense of knowing; an air of “I’ve been there too, I know very well the space you’re in”. Gentle, hopeful, comforting.

I was inspired by the masks on this website, and just made my own. My son felt the bloody machete was necessary. You may disagree.

The Detective Dog
•••
Of all the children’s books I’ve read, this one ticks juuust above all the others. It’s sweet and funny; perfectly captures the everyday comedic joys of living with a little boy and a dog. It’s a heart-warmer, a mystery rolled up in an adventure, AND! features the word “poo” - which is always a hit with kids.

Shitter was full!

White bath robe (or belted cardigan, seen here) + trapper hat (got mine at Walmart, still have it). Works with or without the hose. No wigs, no make-up, no masks, no zippers in the back! Just add the cold beer you were going to drink anyway.

KÀ Cirque du Soleil

I suppose this all depends on your group, and the general birthday vibe, but, if you are looking to take in a show, I can tell you - this one left me literally (literally!!) speechless. These performers - nay, athletes! will blow your goddamn mind. The first time ever in my life, I left a show feeling like I didn’t pay ENOUGH for my ticket.

Battle of the Bands
•••
Seek out a Battle of the Bands near you - and go! New and original music that you’ve never ever heard before, played by passionate, up-and-coming artists! When they blow up one day, you can say you! were! there! and prove it with the t-shirt you’ll (most definitely, right?) buy off their merch table.

Iris Knit Dress
•••
In recent years, I have worn a sweater dress to two October weddings. The length and cut of this one are appropriate for the semi-formal code, and the stretchy knit will keep you warm, comfortable and wrinkle-free on your morning commute. Add elevated accessories, and a wrap for chilly autumn evenings.
