My job finally started offering pet insurance but since my boys are already 12 and have a slew of medical conditions a lot of pet insurance doesn’t cover preexisting conditions. It is worth doing the math to see if you can afford emergency pet care or long term care, and diagnostics which add up super quickly as they are all expensive. Average cost of x-Rays ($300 to 400), bloodwork/different panels/genetic testing ($300 to over a thousand), ultrasound (1k+), biopsies (thousands), endoscopy (we were quoted $3,200). Just wanted to share what I learned from our experience.
