Sixteen years married and these kinds of meetings have been ad-hoc and as-needed the whole time. We just started doing them weekly (including the part where you say nice things about each other) and been excellent.

I have been married for roughly three months so take my advice with a block of salt - but I have been a fan of these meetings for a long time. I used them in several relationships over the course of my adult life (spoiler alert - not all of them lasted) and continue to return to them as a great source of connection and camaraderie especially navigating an international move and feral toddler.
