Blackened Roast Chicken with Savory Fig Preserve Butter

I haven't made this for Thanksgiving specifically but I have made it before and the fig+butter on chicken is soooo tasty. a perfect fall recipe!

also, your butcher will spatchcock your chicken for you, if you ask! because I am not yet brave enough to remove a chicken's spine.
