I loved the stylist's advice in this reel, specifically:

1. NO polyester! she is right, it will make the outfit look like a costume.
2. try to find pieces you can incorporate into your wardrobe otherwise! she has some great examples of this and it doesn't have to be actually Indian pieces - it can just match the silhouette of a traditional outfit. for instance, at a recent wedding I wore this skirt as the base of an outfit and then added a blouse, a dupatta, and some jewelry to make it more Indian. another example could be this look (the dress + pants), with a dupatta and jewelry.

tl;dr: you can add a dupatta and Indian jewelry to lots of things to fit the brief.
