a hauntingly beautiful book on black womanhood in the american south but also about womanhood in general. women who love, women who suffer, women who grieve, women who exist unabashedly. chimamanda adichie and tayari jones are two of my favourite living voices in literature today. highly recommend not just for yourself but also maybe as a birthday present to the woman you love!

“Had so so many feelings after this read - it really moved me in a way that’s been hard to find lately. I love these characters so much!”

Laura Medicus
“Beautiful writing - 1940's south - motherless daughters and female friendship. Not a crazy tear jerker for those who don't like to cry.”

Alex Mortenson
“Even better than An American Marriage, if that’s even possible!”
