Recent resident evil movie

Went to see this with my partner a couple of weeks ago, not thinking it would be anything special, more to just get a kick out of it and have a reason to get out of the house. Boy- let me tell you this movie exceeded all expectations! Don't get me wrong, this isn't shutter island-level movie genius but for what it is, it's faithful enough to the games to not be offensive to the audience who grew up with the series but the writing is also so surprisingly emotionally vulnerable and funny and engaging that I had a legitimately great time watching it! The visual effects are also pretty good and the movie makes sure to show you a few close ups so you can see they didn't skip over the gore. Can't believe I'm recommending a video game movie adaptation but here we are!
