Baba Yaga: Morally grey Russian witch (/goddess depending on who you ask) who lives in a house with chicken feet and sometimes eats people! I love how ambiguous she is; I love that she is unapologetically terrifying.

Persephone: I feel drawn to her as someone with a Spring name/appearance and winter personality. I also feel drawn to the idea of alchemizing pain, rebirth and cycles of seasons as someone who has an 8th house stellium and is Saturn ruled. The idea of her giving death a more merciful face also resonates with me since I work primarily with grief and bereavement in my therapy practice and spent my childhood asking for the comics, obituaries and horoscopes in the paper. I love the old cartoon from the 1930’s that depicts this tale.

Kali: The Divine Mother! I love Kali with all of her ferocity and femininity and grace. She’s so existential with her associations with wisdom, time, and the cycles of life and death. I like to think of her as the embodiment of the primordial void that all life sprung from and ask for her guidance in moments of confusion or weakness. Love her!

Artemis: Gotta be Artemis. Goddess of wild nature and the moon, among other things. Love that she’s hot in a mean way (turning men into stags, etc). I dressed up as her for Halloween when I was like 5.
