❤️ were you inspired or informed by any books? I’d love to learn more about the geography of the Bay Area and surroundings.

Oddly enough, I’ve done this since I was a child way back in the high plains of Texas. The imagining was muuuuuch different there. But! Yes! I recommend The Ohlone Way by Malcolm Margolin, and The High Sierra: A Love Story by Kim Stanley Robinson. I also highly recommend subscribing to Bay Nature, a local quarterly magazine that is a joy to read physically (they have online subscriptions also). Some of my knowledge also comes from understanding the migration patterns of several endemic bird species, for which I have only field guides (Sibley Birds West) but their migration paths really came to life for me after signing up for a handful of bird watching classes with the Golden Gate Bird Alliance. Whitney Grover and Keith Maley are especially gracious teachers, whose excitement and joy and knowledge are expansive and contagious.
