Just returned from a quick overnight getaway. We have fond memories of visiting when our gal was very young and it holds up as a hidden gem that is fun for the whole family. Although, it is not as hidden as it used to be as they have expanded the park’s unique offerings — its immersive suspension walkway network made us laugh the entire time with our now teenaged daughter. One of its slides shot me out so fast we had to pause everything to accommodate our hysterical giggles. I was glad that we were also able to find a trail that lets you enjoy the quiet magic of nature. Trees know how to remind us of what fills our cup. The Arbor Day Farm is a self-contained destination where you can park the car and leave it until you are ready to drive home. Lied Lodge offers compact rooms yet well attended amenities. Its dining options satisfied the snooty tastes we have developed over the years. Along with the sustainability sensibilities, mission-driven programming, good weather and apple cider slushy floats the trip checked all the boxes. Now who’s ready to continue making reality a little more humane in this crazed world again? 👋🏻
