I like to say “I’m so proud to know you,” which nicely gets around any hint of condescension. Maybe I should just try straight up proud though!!

Yes I really like this one too! But I was just thinking I actually love when people are proud of me

This almost always makes me cry or want to when someone says it, which probably means things my therapist is already well aware of, lol. But it’s such a good, needed kind of validation ❤️ I’m sure the people around you really appreciate it. I try to remember to say it too!

When I don’t feel close enough (or when it’s just more accurate) I also like to tell people they should be really proud of themself. One part me thinking more of their opinion than mine, one part knowing most of my friends *don’t*.

(PS: I’m proud of you/you should be proud of yourself for spreading love and affirmation this way!! :D)

I tell my cats I’m proud of them everyday. I treat my cats how I wish I was treated as a child or an adult for that matter. Great, rec!
