"Soon, you will have forgotten everything. Soon, everybody will have forgotten you. You will be forgotten either way. So live in such a manner that, while you remain, you belong to yourself."
I got weirded out by every tech bro being obsessed with the Stoics and Marcus Aurelius as their justification for alpha dominance, but lately I have been into my #MementoMori mindset:
I find it refreshing to know I'll never actually be fully remembered, and that even if I was...who cares? Makes me feel liberated, and reminds me to always redirect my focus toward living life through to the marrow.

Marcus's notebook with his musings, "Meditations", details his own struggles with legacy and realization that time is short, be good over everything is a great read.
Anyone that uses the stoics as a platform to justify "aLpHa" attitudes lacks the critical thinking to understand the actual lessons. They probably can't read to begin with.

“I've gifted this book more times than I can count. This translation in particular, by Gregory Hays, is Chef's Kiss.”

“2,000+ years later, and the wisdom still hits home. I read Meditations almost daily for three simple reasons: it brings me back to pause, peace, and perspective. History changes, but human nature doesn’t.”
