Books, socks and a giant eraser

What do you get old(er) men? Every year I consult gift guides for dad and it's like: ✅ tie ✅ watch ✅ bluetooth speaker My blue collar dad doesn't need ties, and has a watch and a speaker. As I get older this applies to other men in my life, too. They have the gadgets! They don't need ties! Help!

My dad is a retired engineer with a love of the outdoors who doesn’t really want for things, so I’ve got a particular challenge. Things in the past that have been hits; big biographies of notable men in history (Steve Jobs, The Beatles), super ridiculously soft wool socks, new Patagonia Baggies and a giant version of his favorite Pentel eraser. I think the eraser has been the biggest hit so far, so my new technique is to focus on things I know he loved when I was a kid but upgraded.

My father-in-law, an engineer as well, mostly gets books and he’s very happy with that.

I think he would enjoy a big eraser! 😂 I have tried books over the years, the last one was "Ice War Diplomat" since he is a history buff and loves hockey. He is also not into "things" so yes, it has to be an upgrade if it's a "thing." Favourite snacks (as opposed to generic gift basket) I've done for the past couple of years so he gets enjoyment and it doesn't take up space for long.
