It’s an incredible way to spend a Saturday afternoon in the fall and winter and it’ll perfume your home with sweet beeswax while you make them. It’s a moving meditation that’ll get you off your phone. Burning them at night gives such an amazing amber glow that I am convinced helps with seasonal depression. Once the sun starts setting around 5pm I start lighting them nightly and feel no guilt about ripping through them because I made them!
Some tips:
I learned from Rajiv’s video, he is such a great teacher. Get all the tools he recommends. I’d been keeping beeswax candle ends for a while and used them as the base of my big ol’ pot-o-wax. Subsequent wax comes from the farmers market. I use a clothes drying rack I already had to hang them between dips. I don’t decant my wax from the big olive oil jug, but this means I need to put it on the heat first thing in the morning to be able to dip in the afternoon.
