Especially love picking up holds in the summer. Walking to the library on a hot day and feeling that whoosh of AC when you walk in is one of life’s greatest pleasures + you’re getting books!

A converse feeling, equally dramatic: My hold for the latest Elizabeth Strout just changed to “In Transit” THE DAY I was leaving for a three-week trip. I raced to the library branch to see if I could possibly, I don’t know, search through their incoming intra-library mail or something. They did not let me do that. I had to sadly cancel the hold and re-request it, and now I’m number like 200-forever again. That was almost two weeks ago and I still think it was the great tragedy of this month. 🎭
