Subaru EVs are good now

Do you consider yourself “Subaru-coded” but are also interested in an electric vehicle? If you don’t pay much attention to the car world you may not realize that Subaru makes EVs, and as of 2026 they are actually pretty good (as opposed to the pre-2026 models which were mediocre).

There are now 3 models: the Crosstrek-sized Uncharted, the sort-of Forester-adjacent Solterra, and the extremely Outback-like Trailseeker. We replaced our aging Outback with a Trailseeker and have really enjoyed how it’s the same rugged wagon we like, but just happens to be an EV. It even has normal door handles that always work like they should!

Prices are not far off the cost of a new gas-powered equivalent. They are co-manufactured with Toyota so you can also get nearly-identical Toyota-badged equivalents of these cars. One brand may be cheaper than the other depending on model and trim.
