The lizard movie.

Look you probably watched this when it came out (or refused to) because you saw the grotesque and unhappy characters in the trailer. Which, fair, they are weird as hell. You arent alone either. Almost everyone I know responds to my recommendation with an audible “WTF THE LIZARD MOVIE?!”

Yes. Yes the lizard movie, you plebeians.

And no, it’s not really for kids. That’s why you hate it. You see animation and want Despicable Me or something of that ilk.

It’s a western but really a story about identity, finding a place for yourself in the world and faking it till you make it. And the world building is just superbly creative. I mean they have a mariachi band of owls narrating and betting on Rango dying the entire time.
