_why Day

On August 19th, 2009, the computing surrealist Why the Lucky Stiff withdrew from public life after many years of work, art and service to folks who use and make computing systems.

If you’re familiar with _why but not why he left, he produced a document about it a few years later. If you’re not familiar with _why, then enjoy the list of his works, writings, music and systems today. _why’s work represents an alternative approach to computing that centers play, delight, and teaching and learning. It is worth a long look.
