In the Tuscan countryside, a small man lays dying, protected by monks. We travel back with him through his memories growing up, falling in love with the wealthy neighbour girl and becoming a famous sculptor during Mussolini’s rise to power. Witty, beautiful, atmospheric and still full of plot. I adored it.
