Bacon gum is literally a small torn-off piece of raw bacon chewed on like gum. My grandfather was born in 1910 and was raised on a farm in Hagerstown, Maryland. The was normal in his family.
He taught me how to type without looking at the keyboard, how to use LOGOS code— and that bacon gum was a good idea. He stood with me in front of the open fridge and showed me the protocol when I was 5, and I think my mom figured out I was regularly doing this by the time I was seven. (Yes, she put a stop to it).
