I don’t know if you’ve heard of the Danish term “Tandsmør” love this concept it means “teeth butter” when there is kind of a thicker layer so your teeth marks go into it. Kind of a celebratory way to describe the butter application to toast.

I was just listening to a podcast about ideal restaurant bread (dan from the sporkful interviewing caity weaver, she also wrote an Atlantic article about it) and the hosts were discussing how restaurant butter should be soft and spreadable but I disagree. Give me cold butter in gold packets! This is exactly it. Delightful.

“I learned the Danish term “Tandsmør” or teeth butter.- the mark your teeth make in a thick layer. I wish we had more of these small conceptual terms in English.”
