Getting to know your neighbors

If you’re looking for people with shared interests and who are in a similar season of life as you… look no further than next door. You all chose the same neighborhood for a reason!

For a lot of our grandparents, their best friends were their neighbors. We’ve made good friends in our neighborhood, and showing our kids the value of branching out and jumping out of our comfort zone has paid off. It’s also just convenient. We’re close with our next-door neighbors, and we help each other out — sometimes the kids play here so their parents can get stuff done, sometimes ours play over there. We also do impromptu, low-key joint dinner nights, which are some of my favorites. We’ve spent holidays together too, like New Year’s and a Fourth of July pizza party outside. It’s all very organic and easy, because they’re right next door — not a lot of planning necessary.

That being said: Introduce yourself first. Invite people over. Go to the block party. Be the “weird” ones, I promise it’s worth it.
