Living well
A hidden reading nook
•••
Mine is tucked behind a sliding door that looks like part of the closet. Inside, there are shelves, a small fold-down table for writing, and - best of all - a skylight. I love holing up with a book and listening to the rain.

A very good branch
•••
One of the top three reasons we bought our house was this very good branch that shades the whole deck. Feels like you're in a tree house. If I was starting from scratch, I'd make sure to plant a fast growing shade tree as close as possible to the outdoor hang space and train a branch over.

An Outdoor Shower

An outdoor shower feels like the epitome of quiet luxury. It doesn't need to be fancy — just great water pressure and some hooks.

Tons of windows and natural light

The more the better. My current home is so much lighter than the last I lived in and it makes such a difference for me especially in the mornings. That being said.. you will also need a lot of window treatments

Vintage Blue Cast Iron Sink
$750

Designing around original character is just the best feeling during a home renovation. Our house was fully demoed save for a retro blue sink that we placed in our new powder room. Super satisfying to find and replace parts, or bring in new design choices to create a vision that fits the update.

Your very own at-home seltzer tap

My husband installed one on a whim in our house (basically a kegerator in the basement below our tiny closet bar above) and it felt fun and frivolous at the time. Turns out it’s actually essential. Highly recommend. Linking to a DIY how-to.

Galley Kitchen
•••
Look, I love a galley kitchen (it’s the sailor in me) because they’re functional, practical, have tons of storage, and every detail is considered. Plus you can keep people OUT when you are cooking! (I am not a chat around the oven gal).
