Zotero
As a certified Old currently in grad school, I love Zotero for organizing my research (this is a screenshot of what I'm currently working on). You can read and annotate within Zotero, produce citations, and there's a Chrome plugin. The free edition does have a storage limit, but you can export a bibliography of collected articles at any time, so cleaning up is no big deal.
