Formative reading for me as a young feminist, wannabe witch, and lover of atmosphere. An excellent examination of the role of women, religion, and mysticism at a crucial moment in Briton history (allegorical, ofc). I like to read it every few years for the nostalgia and reminder that nothing can last.
