If you, like me, are someone who frequently types in multiple languages or finds a lack of coördination passé or if seeing manana drives you banañas: US international keyboard layout. Type " then e for ë, ~ then n for ñ and so forth. It's extremely intuitive and versatile across any language with Latin characters. No need to change your actual physical keyboard, just tweak the settings to US international.
p.s. If you need occasional Cyrillic but are typing on an English keyboard, the Cyrillic mnemonic keyboard mapping is a huge help and infinitely better than learning an entirely different layout. Л is at L, ц is at c, etc.
