Whistler's Peacock Room
Recommended by WillaDC's underground treasure. Housed in the basement of the Freer, this jewel box of a room is the perfect place to spend a rainy hour away from the crowds. It's peaceful and invites contemplation. Each time I go some new aspect of the room catches me flat-footed.

Love the national museum of Asian art!! One of the more under the radar Smithsonian’s. It’s actually great with kids - they have coloring books to make it a treasure hunt, and treasures indeed!!
