Atlanta chosen to be host city for the Olympics

I was in first grade and we all were waiting in our cars in carpool line, with bated breath, crossing all our fingers and toes that Atlanta was going to be chosen. The cheers and honking after it was announced was spectacular. Atlanta doesn’t get a lot of wins, and this was not without its fair share of controversy, but it sure was fun being a kid when this happened!
